Sonya started her career as a respiratory therapist in her home province of Newfoundland. She has been involved in the care of children and adults with neuromuscular disorders requiring long-term mechanical ventilation in critical and home care. Sonya returned to university to complete her bachelor of technology degree, then moved to Edmonton, where she’s been instrumental in sharing her knowledge for caring for people with ALS. Sonya lives with her son, husband and pets (a dog and cat). She enjoys camping and exploring Alberta with her family at every opportunity.
