Registered Social Worker
Foyer Lacombe
Kim's career started at the age of 19 when she began working with mentally and
physically disabled populations in group homes and community settings. From
there, she moved into working with diverse, barriered populations including those
with addictions, mental health issues or dual diagnoses; those who have been victims of violence or have been offenders; those who are homeless; those suffering from work injuries
(short- and long-term disabilities) or from brain injuries; and those transitioning from
prostitution. Kim went back to school in 2002 for social work and then entered
gerontology shortly afterward. She is experienced as a behavioural specialist
working with dementia populations and those with other cognitive challenges and is certified as a psychogeriatric resource consultant, bereavement counsellor
and designated capacity assessor.
